Rebecca Truszkowski is a Photographer, Filmmaker and Anthropologist based in Los Angeles, California.  Her passion for visual expression developed as a child growing up in Michigan where she strived to learn what life was like in different environments and cultural atmospheres.  She is driven by a curiosity to explore and understand the ethos in the human condition.
Rebecca’s love for exploring societal subcultures and social relationships to geographic environments grew as she pursued a career as a commercial, documentary and cultural heritage photographer.  She more recently developed filmmaking and anthropological research skills while pursuing her graduate degree.  Her method of research and media development include a constantly shifting balance of cultural participation, observation and image creation, as well as personal relationship building.  She spends time with the people she photographs, immersing herself into the social structure, learning their stories, realizing their positionality and developing emotional connections which are captured by still images and film.
Rebecca’s visual projects and research are centered within the arts, humanitarianism, women’s causes, and the communities of social-minded support.  She examines cultural functionality and development along with the relationship individuals have to their spaces and communities.  Her desire is to balance her work within the areas of documentation, fine art and anthropological research with a humanitarian, scholarly and commercial appeal.  She is drawn to themes of humanitarianism, environmentalism, arts appreciation and education reform which coincide with matters that are deeply meaningful to her.  She is a visual and cultural documentarian and is comfortable creating still photography, directing film projects, editing films and conducting ethnographic research projects.
